Instrumentation for Better Coffee and Consistency
The JAVALYTICS™ Family of Degree of Roast Analyzers simplify the measurement of roast color classification and to determine roast consistency. The machine uses infrared light to analyze the color of ground or whole bean coffee. It then outputs an easy-to-read number (Agtron number) that represents the degree of roast.
The numbers are precise, industry standard representations of the degree of roast. The lower the number, the darker the roast level.
Many roasters describe coffees as “full city”, “French” etc. The problem is that these terms vary in meaning from roaster to roaster. Agtron numbers, on the other hand, never vary at all. They tell you what you want to know regarding how dark the coffee bas been roasted.
